In regards to the death, there are two ways you can do this. The first is what you suggested, where he's grabbed while in between universes, before he landed, still alive.
The other way is that it can be treated as a resuscitation. The being that brings characters to the game can do quite a bit, but it's harder for it to revive people long gone. However, if Kurt was grabbed just seconds after death, during a time he could've been potentially resuscitated with the right healing powers or medical technology, it can be treated as if he was simply kidnapped seconds after death, resuscitated, and healed. The big problem with characters that are revived is that there's issue if their souls have moved on, but if someone is just seconds after death, they're still able to potentially be resuscitated.
As for the meta powers granted by his physique, in this case it's borderline, so you can count his physique as either "badass" or "slightly badass" and whether it's a 2-power or 3-power powerset can be determined by the strength of the other power(s) you choose. If you choose another power that's moderately powerful, it could be included in a pair for a 2-power power set. But if the other powers you have in mind are on the weaker side, it can be the third power in a 3-power power set. We'll let you have some flexibility there based on what it's paired with.
