ACTIVITY CHECK POLICY

ACTIVITY CHECK POLICY

The Activity Check period in the game is two months long. At the end of the first month of each AC period there will be a check-in that requires no activity proofs. At the end of the second month of each AC period, players will need to post activity proofs.

BASIC AC

Basic AC is made by providing two proofs of activity every two months. (Proof types are explained in greater detail under the Proof Types header below.) For most proof types, you can use the same type of proof twice (such as (2) network or log posts, or (2) 20-comment threads). CR credits are the only exception -- only 1 CR credit can be used per AC period.

Any of the following counts as (1) proof of activity:
  • (2) 10-comment threads

  • (1) 20-comment thread

  • (1) Network or Log post

  • (1) Plot credit

  • (1) CR credit*
* - A CR credit will not be accepted for AC on a character currently on AC Warning, and only one CR credit can be used per activity period. See below.

ACTIVITY BONUS

The AC in place is the minimum activity required to stay in the game. Active players in the game are rewarded for extra activity. After a player has made their basic AC, they can earn the Activity Bonus by providing one additional proof of activity. (Any type!)

PROOF TYPES

10 AND 20 COMMENT THREADS

AC-eligible comment threads are any posted in [community profile] thelegion, [community profile] legionworld, [community profile] legionmissions, and the Test Drive memes posted on [community profile] legionclubhouse. Proofs from outside sources such as character inbox posts kept in character journals, meme communities, or [community profile] dear_player, are not accepted for AC.

Comment counts for AC cover the entire thread, so a 10-comment thread from two players would include 5 comments from each character.

In non-plot group threads, we still use the full comment count, but expect the player providing the proof to have active participation in the thread. (Such as 3 comments in a 3-character 10-comment thread.)

For network posts, we will accept threads that aren't one continuous conversation if they meet the comment count and the player has made significant contributions. Due to the broken up nature of commenting on networks, we know that it's hard sometimes to have a single continuous thread with a single character. If we feel a character hasn't made enough contributions for a network thread to count, we'll give the player a chance to provide an alternate proof.

NETWORK AND LOG POSTS

AC-eligible posts are any posted in [community profile] thelegion, [community profile] legionworld, or [community profile] legionmissions.

The post itself counts separately from the threads inside it. Making a Network post and then having a 20-comment thread inside it, for example, would count as two AC proofs.

PLOT CREDITS

A plot credit shows a character's participation in a plot log (not network posts). The character must have posted at least (3) comments in the log to qualify.

Multiple threads from the same plot do qualify for multiple plot credits.

Plot credits can be earned on network posts when said posts are tagged by the mods as being part of the plot.

CR CREDITS

CR credits recognize several actions that encourage meeting new characters and developing current relationships. Any of the following would qualify for a CR credit:
  • New CR: Making new CR with (2) new characters under any circumstances earns 1 CR Credit.

  • Finished Threads: A finished thread reaches a natural conclusion ICly and contains at least 5 posts from your character. Provide (3) examples of finished threads to earn 1 CR Credit. (Qualifying threads provided as part of other AC proofs can also be submitted as finished threads.)

  • Plot or Party Logs: Running a player plot or posting some kind of party log earns 1 CR Credit.

A CR credit can only be used for one proof per AC period. Your other proof(s) must be thread comments, log/network posts, or plot credits.

A CR credit will not be accepted for any part of the Activity Check if a character is on an Activity Warning.

CR credits can only be earned on the [community profile] thelegion, [community profile] legionworld, and [community profile] legionmissions communities. Threads made on the Test Drive Meme or other posts on [community profile] legionclubhouse do not qualify.

ACTIVITY WARNINGS

If you fail to make Basic AC with a character, you have the option of taking a Warning. This would mean that the next AC period, you must provide an additional proof for the Basic Activity requirement for a total of 3 proofs.

A player must clear the AC warning on a character before they can be issued another one for that character, failing two checks in a row will require the character be dropped. AC warnings are meant to be used sparingly throughout the year and if the mods see the warning system being abused, they may decline to issue additional warnings to the player.

CR credits cannot be used for any AC requirements if you have to supply an extra proof for a warning. All of your AC during that period must be non-CR Credit proofs.

ACTIVITY CHECK FAQS

Do new characters have to make AC for Full AC?

For any new characters, for their first Full AC, if they app in less than two weeks before the Full AC, they must simply post a check in.

If they app in more than two weeks before Full AC they must only post a check-in and a link to at least one activity proof of any length (such as their character's intro post/thread). However, other than proof they have introed into the game somehow, they do not have to meet the Full AC requirements for their first Full AC.

What benefits do I get from making the Activity Bonus?

Active players that make the Activity Bonus and new players will get priority in over-arching mod plots, and in plots involving media coverage (like Legionnaire Legacies). When plots have limited special roles that require RNG, only new players and existing players that hit the Activity Bonus will be allowed in the RNG pool.

That said, players that meet the minimum can still have fun in the game. There will be plenty of plots that don't have RNGed roles, as well as player-run plots which can go at any pace players want. The Activity Bonus is to reward activity and provide fun roles for new and active players, and to prevent important plot roles in mod plots from going to barely active players.

What if my character is new; can I still get the Activity Bonus somehow?

New characters automatically get treated as if they have the Bonus, even with only having to do a check-in. It's only after their first Full AC (ie the one that require proofs) that they must start earning the Bonus with actual activity.

Can I use an older thread for activity if it was started in a past AC period, but continued going so that newer comments were posted during the current AC period?

Yes! The mods recognize that sometimes threads can be backtagged for a long time. So if you used an older thread for a past AC, but the thread continued and has more recent comments that were posted during the current AC period, you may count the more recent comments towards the current AC. (For instance, if you used a 10-comment thread for an Activity Check on 3/22/17, and posted 20 additional comments after the Activity Check, those 20 additional comment can count for the next AC period).

Each Activity Check will list the start and end date of the time period it's checking for. Any activity posted between those dates can count as proofs, even if the thread initially started during an old AC period. This also applies to plot participation logs, as long as you have posted 3 new comments to the log.

An exception to this is claiming new CR for a new CR credit. If you have already claimed a new CR credit for the characters in an AC, you cannot claim another later, even if the thread has continued.

Do Legionnaire NPCs with dedicated RPers need to make AC?

Native Legionnaire npcs with a dedicated rper will not have to make AC for the npc, since they'll be heavily coordinated by the mod team to help guide and support the PCs. That said, the mods do expect a certain measure of activity from any Legionnaire npcs and may ask players to chime in on certain things. If players can't meet the demands of this, the mods may ask you to step down so the mod team can handle the npcing of the character.

These players must still make AC for their non-npc characters.

Do villain NPCs with dedicated RPers need to make AC?

No, they do not. Villain NPCs at the game with dedicated rpers do not have to meet AC as they'll more often be used in plots than regular RPing.

Can I be exempt from AC if something important happens?

Yes, if you have some kind of emergency, have difficult circumstances during an AC period (such as health issues or other life issues), or have something preplanned that might take you away from home like a vacation, you can be exempt from 1 AC per rolling year. Once this AC skip has been used up, players must take AC warnings and simply provide extra proofs the next AC period.

If you believe you're eligible for an AC Skip, please note it during the Activity Check that it applies, or contact the mods privately either before or during the Activity Check, either through PM, the MOD CONTACT, or the HIATUS/DROPS post.

Do Test Drive Meme threads count towards AC?

You cannot claim CR or plot credits, but you can use TDM threads for comment-based AC proofs.

Can I still get the Activity Bonus if I have a Warning?

Yes. If you are able to make the Basic AC, and provide the additional proof to satisfy the Warning, you can still potentially go on to make the Activity Bonus for the character. This would require a total of 4 proofs for the period.
