LEGION TRAINING
![]() ![]() Due to characters having to adjust to the setting, the Legion provides lots of lessons and training to help them adjust. Usually these lessons will be handwaved due to the difficulty in threading all of them out. You can expect that your character usually faces at least several hours of lessons and training per day, much like if they were still in school. This is alongside actual missions they will sometimes go on. DAILY LESSONS The Legion provides daily lessons to new Legionnaires to help them adjust to the setting, everything from social studies to science and technology. These are taught by the npc Legionnaires and usually take several hours per day. When characters have become comfortably familiarized with the setting, their lessons on the UP and its culture get reduced and their combat lessons and team training sessions increase. COMBAT MEDICINE Instructor: Dr. Gym'll Dr Gym'll, head of the Medbay, teaches characters basic first aid. Those that have an interest in learning more are taught how to be combat medics for their teammates. Characters that come in with medical training can also receive extra lessons in 31st century medicine so that they can provide care for their teammates in Medbay alongside the rest of the medical staff. ESPIONAGE TRAINING Instructor: Invisible Kid/Lyle Norg Lyle can be godded as teaching Legionnaires important espionage abilities, like stealth and infiltration skills and lock-breaking. FIELD INSTRUCTION Instructor: Timber Wolf/Brin Londo Brin is the Legionnaire that has the most hands-on training with the Legionnaires out in the field, leading the Legionnaire recruits on their earliest guided missions. PCs can handwave Brin as having taken their Legionnaires out on mentored missions for field experience so they have enough experience to do their own missions without guidance. HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT Instructor: Karate Kid/Val Armorr Val gives daily lessons teaching various forms of hand-to-hand combat, with emphasis on using them against meta-powered enemies and fighting crowds. PILOT LESSONS Instructor: Bouncing Boy/Chuck Taine Chuck will be teaching regular classes on how to handle the Legion Cruisers, and can be used to handwave PCs who already know how to fly starships learning the quirks of 31st century ships. POWERS CONTROL/BATTLEFIELD TACTICS Instructor: Umbra/Tasmia Mallor Tasmia can be godded as providing daily lessons to characters on battlefield tactics and scenarios, and provides extensive training for Legionnaires to learn how to control and manipulate their new powers. SCIENCE/TECHNOLOGY Instructor: Brainiac 5/Querl Dox Brainy gives daily lessons that allow characters to learn how to use the advanced technology of the UP. He also teaches the more technologically inclined PCs mechanics and how to engineer their own 31st century tech for missions. SOCIAL STUDIES/UNITED PLANETS CULTURE Instructor: Gates/Ti'julk Mr'aszt Gates gives daily lessons to allow the PCs to learn about 31st century Earth, the United Planets, and the various alien cultures they're now being exposed to. You can handwave your characters receiving regular social studies lessons from Gates in the background. Just keep in mind that said lessons are likely accompanied by lots of socialist ranting and raging against the military-industrial complex and the violence inherent in the system. TEAM TRAINING The team undergoes regular group training sessions in the simroom, with a variety of holographic settings. These run daily, unless the team is forced to answer a call to go on a mission. Some of these scenarios involve deployment of the full team, others split Legionnaires up into squads. Characters with leadership aptitude are often put in charge of squads and receive additional training on leadership to allow many Legionnaires to step into the role of field leader if team members are ever cut off from Legion leadership in a fight. Legion Leader Kid Quantum and Deputy Leader Cosmic Boy run most of these sessions, but occasionally Brainiac 5, Karate Kid, Timber Wolf, and Umbra put the team through various scenarios. During these lessons, aside from running through combat scenarios, the new Legionnaires are also taught important lessons on UP law and Legion protocol. CHARACTERS TRAINING OTHERS Characters are allowed to train other characters in skills that the npc Legionnaires don't teach, or can provide specialized power lessons for characters with similar powers. PCs may also run extra practice sessions to their heart's content. For instance, if characters want to pick up guns with stun ammo as extra self defense in case of powers failing, and a Legionnaire is a good shot, they can teach others marksmanship. If you feel your character would offer extra lessons, please fill out the form below. If you have an additional questions about training, feel free to contact us via the faq. |
