CHRONOBLIVION AND ITS SERVANTS CHRONOBLIVION A sentient universe that has existed from the very beginning of time, Chronoblivion is a terrifying cosmic threat, an otherworldly evil being that lives for devouring other universes and timelines. Driven by Its endless all-consuming hunger, It attaches itself to a universe, sends Its heralds to weaken that universe's defenses, and then eats it, growing stronger with every universe It consumes. Its inner core is protected by armor created from the fragments of universes It has already eaten. So far, no one has successfully breached this armor to fight the monster inside, and many of those unfortunate beings that have gazed on the twisted mayfly dimensions It has wrapped Itself in have gone insane from the sight. While satisfying Its endless hunger, growing stronger, and becoming the only thing that exists are Its main aims, It's not a mindless creature. Chronoblivion's cruelty is as terrifying as Its appetite, and It enjoys the great suffering and dread it causes. If It successfully consumes the Legion's universe, It will finally be strong enough to devour every universe in the multiverse, effectively ending all of existence. To save the Legion's universe is to save everything that is -- including the homes of the PCs. CHRONOBLIVION'S HERALDS As Chronoblivion destroys universes, It sometimes takes individuals from those dead universes and converts them into Its heralds, "the shadows that life casts," twisting their minds to serve Its indomitable will. It especially revels in doing this to beings that tried to oppose It while It destroyed their universe. Some of these villains are from variants of canon universes that were destroyed, and are fandom characters like many of the PCs. In their natural form, the Heralds look like black and white photo negative versions of themselves, requiring them to use highly advanced hard-light holographic disguises to interact normally with others. They all have the natural ability to be invisible to most sensors, cameras, and other forms of detection, and while their actions can sometimes be seen in the precognitive visions of Naltorians and other precogs, they themselves are invisible to their future sight. All Heralds must be destroyed down to the cellular level for them to be fully destroyed and have powerful regenerative abilities. Some also have additional powers like invulnerability that make them even more difficult to kill. As of right now, the Legion is ICly aware of the existence of the Heralds, but not who most of them are, or how many exist. CODENAME: THE DEVIL REAL NAME: BILL CIPHER STATUS: SUCCESSFULLY TERMINATED POWERS: Intangibility, invisibility, possession (telepathic abilities active during use). Nearly indestructible. Given a blood sample, can enter via dreams and attempt to erase victim's psyche. Doing so leaves them a mindless husk, but his physical body is vulnerable during this period. Reality-warping abilities operate via "deals". Beware of loopholes. MORE INFO: Upset at Chronoblivion's forced conscription, barely held in control by his master's alterations to his personality. Willing to harm his co-Heralds for own ends if he can get away with it without angering Chronoblivion. Even though he can't stop Chronoblivion from forcing him into certain actions, he constantly seeks ways to free himself from Chronoblivion's control. CODENAME: THE FOOL REAL NAME: THE JOKER STATUS: SUCCESSFULLY DETAINED POWERS: Like the rest of the Heralds, also has the power to come back when killed by any conventional means, and can only be killed if completely vaporized. No additional powers, other than sheer force of horrifying personality, but still incredibly dangerous. MORE INFO: Barely follows Chronoblivion's orders. Highly unstable. The Big C and the other heralds point him in the direction of things that need to be destroyed and just let him cut loose. He often uses technology like explosives, hired mooks, and his Smylex gas to create chaos. Recently, he was successfully detained by the Legion after an attack on Cargg. Sadly, one of the Legionnaires, Karina Lyle, was killed during the conflict. CODENAME: THE HEIROPHANT REAL NAME: THE PENITANT STATUS: AT LARGE POWERS: Extreme invulnerability, superstrength, mild shapeshifting such as having the ability to alter her body and turn her fingers into spikes. Able to open rips in spacetime that allow her to send her otherdimensional terrors, the Unmolded ones, at her enemies, almost anywhere. MORE INFO: Highly devoted to Chronoblivion's cause. Due to extreme arrogance, sometimes attempts to overrides the authority of some of the other Heralds, including the one designated as leader. CODENAME: JUDGEMENT REAL NAME: [CURRENTLY UNKNOWN] STATUS: AT LARGE POWERS: [CURRENTLY UNKNOWN] MORE INFO: The leader and tactician of the Heralds, Judgment is responsible for strategizing their attacks on other universes. Highly secretive, this Herald uses many duped allies and proxies to hide their existence. CODENAME: THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE REAL NAME: WAR STATUS: SUCCESSFULLY DETAINED POWERS: Her presence empathically induces others around her to go into conflict. This can be resisted only if victims become aware and actively resist her influence. Extreme regenerative capabilities mean utter annihilation down to the cellular level is necessary to destroy her. She is a gifted fighter, knowledgeable in an almost uncountable number of fighting arts, capable of using every possible weapon with perfect efficacy, instinctively.
